COLLAGEN INDUCTION THERAPY

This procedure improves the appearance of aging skin and scarring by stimulating the skin’s natural ability to repair itself.

Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) is effective for:

  • surgical scars

  • acne scar treatment

  • stretch marks

  • hypo-pigmented lesions

  • fine lines and wrinkles

  • enlarged pores

  • sun damage

This procedure, also called microneedling, uses small needles to create hundreds of micro-channels in the skin. This process, along with applying platelet-rich plasma (PRP), which contains a concentrate of growth factors, triggers the skin to produce more collagen and elastin, resulting in younger-looking skin.

How Does CIT Work?

The CIT experience begins with a practitioner taking a blood sample and then use a spinning tool called a centrifuge to concentrate the growth factors from the blood. Then a numbing cream is applied to the treatment areas, which takes approximately 20 minutes to take effect. While most clients only rate their discomfort at a 2 or 3 out of 10 at most, this cream allows for a minimal amount of discomfort during the entire treatment. Once the numbing cream has been activated, the area of concern is thoroughly treated with the microneedling handpiece. We use a medical precision tool with a unique, dual spring-loaded disposable needle cartridge that uses an automated, vibrating stamp-like motion to cause micro injury to the skin. The gentle stimulation, combined with applying the extracted growth factors, promotes natural production of collagen and elastin, using the skin’s natural process of renewal to create a smoother, glowing complexion.

  • Four to six treatments is the ideal amount to achieve the best results of a specific area. Each treatment is done four weeks apart. Our doctors will discuss with you to determine which is best for your skin type.

  • While the results are gradual due to collagen reproduction occurring over time, you will see a definite improvement in elasticity, texture, and tone. Best results will be seen after the full six treatments.

  • The side effects are minimal and short-lived. You may experience slight swelling, the feeling of being “sunburned”, and possible peeling. The possibility of acquiring any infection is extremely rare.

  • We recommend waiting 24 hours before applying makeup. However, this depends on the level of repair required. It is best to wait until the skin is fully repaired prior to applying makeup.
